Dimension Data Launches Annual ‘Tech Trends’ Forecast for 2019

NEW YORK, Nov. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Dimension Data, the USD 8 billion global technology integrator and managed services provider, today launched its Tech Trends 2019 report developed by its team of technology experts. It identifies fundamental industry trends that will come to define the business technology landscape in 2019 across customer experience, cybersecurity, digital business, digital infrastructure, digital workplace, technology futures, and services. In the report, Group CTO Ettienne Reinecke claims that 2019 will finally see digital transformation become a reality and predicts a spate of industry-wide disruption as innovative companies see long-term projects bear fruit.

Dimension Data logo (PRNewsfoto/Dimension Data)

The often referenced but rarely accomplished transformation projects will start coming to life thanks to the maturity of game-changing technologies like AI, machine learning and robotic process automation.

Commenting on the report, Ettienne Reinecke said: “Until now, our industry has spoken about innovative technologies somewhat theoretically, without providing a clear picture of how these powerful new innovations will be used. Think analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, blockchain and containers, just to name a few.

“That’s starting to change. The application of disruptive technologies is becoming more pervasive and their adoption is growing steadily. We’ll see the most innovative companies showing off truly impactful examples of digital transformation in action in 2019 with many more coming to the market over the next three years. They will then become so firmly embedded in the core processes and technologies we use that we’ll consider them commonplace. 2019 is the year that trailblazers will pull away from fast-followers and we start to see significant power shifts across industries.”

The whitepaper, Tech Trends 2019, has been developed by Dimension Data’s technology experts and also identifies five further trends that will come to define the business technology landscape in 2019 which include:

  • Robotic process automation will reshape customer experience: The exponential growth in robotic process automation – such as machine learning, AI, and heuristic neural networks – will give companies the ability to combine scenarios, increase understanding, and make real-time predictive decisions about their customers’ needs and behaviors.
  • Organizations will focus on cloud-based cybersecurity platforms: Regular high-profile cybersecurity breaches in 2018 will cause cloud-based security providers to gain traction in 2019. Cloud-based security systems are built with open APIs, meaning security teams can integrate new technologies into the platform quickly and with relative ease. This will ensure clients can keep up with the rapidly evolving threat landscape.
  • Infrastructure will become programmable from end to end: Companies will start subscribing to multiple cloud platforms and increasing their use of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). End-to-end programmability means organizations will be able to quickly adapt to changing business landscape and demand more from their applications and data.
  • Applications will become more intelligent and customized: In the coming year, we’ll see applications gathering input from users and making changes to their own functionality to improve the user experience. Artificial intelligence and machine learning will play a significant role in helping employees work more productively.
  • The value of data will become the center of the value universe: In the coming period, the focus will increasingly shift to the true value of data, driving a renewed quest to embed telemetry, collect and enrich data. It is data that will form the core of true digital transformation and become the source of new revenue streams that will surpass traditional revenue streams. This will lead to a change in information architectures, with the need to establish rich data starting to drive IT investments.

DiscoveriQ gives users a real-time, enterprise-wide view of their operations at both the process and task level.

The software gives users all the detail they need to analyze and document processes — based on how employees actually complete them, versus how managers think they should be completed. This level of accurate detail gives companies the data they need to assess which paths are most efficient and either re-train employees or use the information to begin their path to process automation. DiscoveriQ can be used to

  • Identify most commonly used screens and applications.
  • Zone in on process variations and opportunities to automate or train and incentivize employees.
  • Automatically generate process documentation to accelerate requirements gathering.

DiscoveriQ can run alongside other (third-party) automation solutions and can be configured to gather data at an enterprise level on an ongoing basis, creating larger sample sizes for more detailed views of employee tasks. Paired with OpenConnect’s WorkiQ, DiscoveriQ gives the workforce and process analytics necessary to begin a successful path to automation.

“This is an incredibly innovative and flexible offering that allows users to get as wide or narrow view of their processes as they want. It then actually gives them the tools to document and automate, which no other technology of this kind can provide,” says OpenConnect CEO, Mark Dailey.

Airborne Wireless Network Announces Completion of its Preliminary Software Platform

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., Nov. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Airborne Wireless Network (OTC Pink: ABWN or the Company) is proud to announce that THINKING DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGIES B.V. doing business as TDT SYSTEMS, INC. (TDT) has completed the custom software necessary for the ongoing lab and field testing of the two Free Space Optics units and our contemplated two-plane flight test.  The Company believes that this is significant because this software will be integral as the development of the contemplated Infinitus Super HighwaySM continues, subject to various factors.  In addition, based upon the design of this software, the software can be updated to support any number of Free Space Optics units.

Airborne Wireless Network Logo (PRNewsfoto/Airborne Wireless Network)

Michael J. Warren, Chief Executive Officer of ABWN stated: “We thank TDT for providing this custom software necessary for the Company’s continued testing as well as designing the software so that it can be expanded to support numerous Free Space Optics units.  Even though this is a significant event, the Company still has additional testing and a lot of work going forward with many unknowns.”

Evert Van Den Brandhof, Director of TDT added: “I unequivocally state that the TDT software has been and is developed for Airborne Wireless Network with top quality and efficiency.  We have been excited to complete and deliver this stage of the software.”

About Airborne Wireless Network

Airborne Wireless Network intends to create a high-speed broadband airborne wireless network by linking commercial aircraft in flight.  It is projected that each aircraft participating in the network will act as an airborne repeater or router, sending and receiving broadband signals from one aircraft to the next and creating a digital information superhighway in the sky.  The Company intends the network to be a high-speed broadband internet pipeline to improve coverage and connectivity.  The Company does not intend to provide retail customer coverage to end users, but, instead, act as a wholesale carrier with target customers, such as internet service providers and telephone companies.

Currently, the world’s connectivity is achieved by use of undersea cables, ground-based fiber and satellites.  The Company believes that the Company’s airborne digital highway may be a solution to fill the world’s connectivity void.  The Company’s network, once developed, should provide low cost, high-speed connectivity to rural areas, island nations, ships at sea, oil platforms, in addition to connectivity to commercial and private aircraft in flight.

NarrativeDx Awarded Patent for Patient Feedback Analysis

AUSTIN, Texas, Nov. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — NarrativeDx announced today that the US Patent Office has awarded to it a patent that covers the automated analysis of patient feedback, a cornerstone of consumerism strategies for many health systems.

NarrativeDx Patent

U.S Patent Number 10,114,814 covers NarrativeDx’s innovative technology that uses natural language processing and machine learning to understand patient feedback from a variety of sources and identify specific opportunities that improve patient satisfaction scores, boost referrals and increase employee engagement.

“This patent recognizes our innovative approach to using artificial intelligence to hear the voice of the patient.  We incorporate all available feedback sources, such as grievance letters, rounding, satisfaction surveys, social media and online physician reviews into a single platform that separates the signal from the noise.  We help our clients turn silos of patient feedback into the right insights that move the needle, in specifically targeted ways for them,” said Kyle Robertson, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, NarrativeDx.

This patent is the first in a portfolio of pending applications that cover key aspects of NarrativeDx’s innovative technology.  NarrativeDx uses this technology to recognize over 5,400 root causes of patient satisfaction and provide targeted insights that facilitate patient experience and workforce development initiatives.  The technology also incorporates a proprietary understanding of patient experience and language.  “You can’t capture the nuance of a patient’s experience with sentiment or categories – you need to identify the root cause and what to do about it.  That’s why we built the largest, most comprehensive understanding of verbatim patient feedback in existence.  This allows us to be incredibly detailed and accurate where other solutions fail,” Robertson added.

According to a 2016 study by Accenture, excellent patient experience increases hospital revenue by 50%. NarrativeDx achieves these outcomes by partnering with healthcare organizations, patient experience and informatics leaders, and consultancies to identify key issues across departments and providers based on patient comments. These actionable insights inform human-centered solutions that improve care experiences, increase revenue, and boost referrals for a thriving healthcare system.

“NarrativeDx has built a one-of-a-kind analytics engine for narrative patient experience data,” said Senem Guney, PhD, Founder and Chief Experience Officer, NarrativeDx. “Our company was founded on the simple principle that patient voices matter, and by uncovering important insights from patients’ own words about their experiences, we can make meaningful improvements in the delivery of patient-centered care that brings value to the patient-consumer.”

Founded in 2014 by AI engineer and IP lawyer, Kyle Robertson, JD, and Senem Guney, PhD, CPXP NarrativeDx has seen steady growth in patient experience and the company continues to invest heavily in product innovation and improving the patient experience.

About NarrativeDx
NarrativeDx, based in Austin, TX, is the artificial intelligence platform for patient experience. We help hospital leaders and care providers hear the voice of their patients. Our natural language processing and machine learning technology provides actionable insights from patient comments to improve their institution’s patient experience, drive patient referrals, increase hospital revenue, and boost hospital reputations.
