HOBOKEN, NJ: The Sims Pump Valve Company, Inc., headquartered in Hoboken, New Jersey is proud to announce the completion of a commissioned project to build specialized pumps for a fish hatchery in Canada. The pumps were designed with custom engineered, high efficiency Impellers & Casing Rings which were manufactured from the patented, corrosion resistant, ultra-durable and lightweight SIMSITE® Structural Graphite Composite. These type 316 stainless steel corrosion resistant pumps utilizing SIMSITE® Impeller & Casing Ring structural composite technology were recently showcased in a product release video featuring SIMS PUMP Company President, John A. Kozel.
In the video, Mr. Kozel proudly unveiled the state-of-the-art pumps that the company designed and manufactured for a fish hatchery in Canada. He explained the unique properties of these pumps, both of which were made to withstand highly corrosive saltwater environments. Unlike traditional pumps, the pumps were designed specifically so that the operating point of the pumps would also be the Best Efficiency Point reducing shaft deflection, radial loading and making the pumps much more efficient. The SIMSITE® Impellers and Casing Rings will not corrode in seawater and they will not suffer from performance deterioration like traditional impellers and rings. The pumps are unlike any traditional pump, which explains why a Canadian fish hatchery would seek out a specialized pump manufacturer in New Jersey, USA.
What makes these pumps unique is the use of the patented SIMSITE® Structural Composite Carbon Fiber Impellers and Casing Rings, which are highlighted in the video. The SIMSITE® Impellers and Casing Rings were designed specifically for the fish hatchery applications. In the video, Mr. Kozel goes on to explain the properties of each pump: The larger pumps are designed to operate at 3,500 gallons per minute (GPM) at 21 foot head (Total Dynamic Head) at 1180 RPM motor with a 30 Horsepower motors. The smaller pumps are designed to operate at the rate of 1,750 gallons per minute with 15 foot head at 1180 RPM with 15 Horsepower motors.
All of SIMS’ pumps possess the same quality; they are all manufactured with long-lasting, engineered, corrosion-free impellers and casing rings that are designed specifically for the customer’s operating point making them far superior to traditional pumps, because of their high efficiency, accuracy, longevity, reliability, and reduced operational costs. The signature SIMSITE® structural composite impellers, casing rings, and guide bearings (line shaft bushings) are an integral part of every SIMS PUMP.
Often asked about what makes his SIMSITE pumps perform so much better, Mr. Kozel responds by commending the unique SIMSITE® structural composite technology combined with progressive thinking that is the hallmark of everything they do at SIMS PUMP. “Our unique composite technology combined with the way our engineers listen to the specific needs of our clients gives us an edge over our competitors. We always respond with the most advanced and cutting-edge pumping solutions to meet the demands of every industry,” remarked Mr. Kozel.
