Citizens At Last – a timely documentary film that celebrates the persistence of Texas suffragettes to win the right to vote.

This weekend on PBS WORLD stations Citizens at Last Texas Women Fight for the Vote: will air with 610 airdates in 111 markets across 40 states covering more than 80% of the US and can be viewed by two hundred million potential viewers — beginning this coming Friday night July 9 pm in prime time @ 8 pm on East Coast stations & in prime time @ 10 pm on West Coast stations.

Citizens at Last is a documentary film that tells the story of the grit, persistence, and tactical smarts of the Texas Lone Star State suffragists who organized, demonstrated, and won the vote for women against the anti-suffragists and prevailing Jim Crow policies that stood in their way.

On August 18, 1920, the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote nationally, ending a struggle for the vote that started a century earlier. Citizens at Last celebrates the women – of all colors – who fought to make their state – and their country – more just and equitable for all citizens.

 Citizens at Last shows the crucial role that Texas women—white, Black and Latina— played in the long struggle for equal voting rights.
