RESTON, Va., Nov. 21, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — Ekahau, the global leader in solutions for enterprise wireless network design, optimization and troubleshooting, today announced Ekahau Survey for iPhone. It is designed to make it easier than ever to complete a site survey of a Wi-Fi network, produce more accurate measurements and ultimately increase the performance of wireless network.
Ekahau Survey for iPhone is the first professional grade Wi-Fi site survey tool — which is now available for both iPhones and iPads. Using mobile devices while conducting site surveys is up to 90% lighter and 33% faster than using a laptop, which dramatically reduces site survey costs.
A key feature of the release, Autopilot Survey automatically tracks the user’s location and synchronizes with the simultaneous Wi-Fi site survey measurements — thus reducing the survey costs by 50%.
Autopilot Survey utilizes the device’s augmented reality (AR) capabilities, such as camera and motion sensors, to automatically locate the site surveyor as often as 30 times per second. Even the smallest movements are effectively tracked and synchronized with Ekahau Sidekick Wi-Fi measurements, producing accurate measurements while eliminating the need for manual synchronization. This enables the site surveyors to move faster than ever before, while spontaneously adjusting the survey route and speed without risking inaccurate measurements.
“Ekahau’s upcoming Autopilot Survey is their biggest innovation so far. It is a game-changer for people who want fast, easy, accurate Wi-Fi site surveys,” says Andrew McHale, Implementation Engineer at Vocera, UK-based enterprise voice wireless network provider. “With the additional launch of Ekahau Survey for iPhone, this will increase the mobility of our network engineers, and the improved accuracy will reduce the total number of site visits required.”
Together with the Ekahau Survey for iPhone & iPad, Ekahau is releasing a new 10.1 version of its planning software, Ekahau Pro. The new release is aimed to increase the automation of Wi-Fi design phase, and the one of the most interesting new features is the new AI-based functionality to create vectorized floor plans automatically from bitmaps. The feature is based on Fully Convolutional Network (FCN) deep learning algorithm and it is capable of reading and recognizing even large and complex floor plans in seconds.
“The launch of the latest version of Ekahau Pro introduces our first deep learning-based module; the more images the system reads, the smarter it becomes. This is just a new step towards more automated and intelligent systems that you will be seeing from us, “says Anssi Tauriainen, Vice President of Product Management at Ekahau, and adds, “The two products we are launching today demonstrate how Ekahau continues to listen to the needs of our partners and customers and will continue to innovate on our products to drive the Wi-Fi industry forward.”
