MIT Sloan Introduces New Course on Digital Learning at Fall 2019 CLO Symposium

Press Releases

Oct 16, 2019

CHICAGO, Oct. 16, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — MIT Sloan Executive Education announced today from The Chief Learning Officer Symposium, Digital Learning Strategy, a program that will debut in spring 2020. The two-day course will take place April 16-17, 2020, and again October 8-9, 2020.

In today’s fast-paced world, effective digital learning programs are a crucial component to the success of any organization. This means taking advantage of disruptive technologies and harnessing them to build cutting-edge learning approaches that ensure prosperity. In this hands-on course, faculty will combine the principles that underpin artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), and robotics with recent insights in areas including neuroscience of learning, game theory, and data science to help organizations create a blueprint for digital learning that is flexible, personalized, scalable and that leverages transformative technologies.

Participants will learn how to identify key strategic considerations such as when to enlist a vendor, speed to market, product lifecycle, pricing strategies, how to mitigate the risks of advanced technologies effectively and how to construct a “learning double helix” where digital and physical learning strategies are mutually supportive and create value that is more than the sum of its parts. They’ll leave with the knowledge and confidence necessary to harness new technologies and build successful digital learning strategies that yield a profitable and sustainable future.

“There’s a growing gap between the skills we needed yesterday and need tomorrow,” says Paul McDonagh-Smith, Digital Capability Leader at the MIT Sloan Office of Executive Education. “An effective digital strategy helps you bridge that gap and upskill your workforce at speed. Building and implementing an effective digital learning strategy gives your organization a competitive advantage by putting your greatest asset, your people, at the heart of your digital transformation.”

The program is designed to benefit senior leaders, managers, entrepreneurs, and anyone responsible for workforce upskilling and training, learning, and development in Fortune 500 companies, and other large organizations—in any industry. This course applies equally to engineering disciplines as well as government agencies, schools, and organizations where knowledge transfer is critical. Technical skills are not required.

Paul McDonagh-Smith, Digital Capability Leader at the MIT Sloan Office of Executive Education will direct the course, with contributions from Thomas Malone, Professor of Management, Technology and Director for Collective Intelligence at MIT, Roberto Rigobon, Professor of Applied Economics and Catherine Tucker, the Sloan Distinguished Professor of Management.

Those interested in signing up for this course may register for an account and apply online. Enrollment is now open for the April course. See a full list of courses here.
