GREENLIGHT Inc. to launch AI simulations for coaching startups

NEW YORK, Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ — Business coaching firm GREENLIGHT Inc. is coming out of stealth mode and launching a new Artificial Intelligence simulator to train startup founders how to overcome obstacles to be sustainable and profitable. This new product, code named “Crucible”, was designed by a team of AI developers, gaming experts, and serial entrepreneurs combining their domain expertise into a continuous learning platform.  Crucible is based on GREENLIGHT’s proprietary Smart Start framework for assessing and scoring managerial competency, improving capability with targeted action plans and simulating successful outcomes.

“New entrepreneurs are motivated to launch their product lines, buy shy away from the demands of actual customers and investors,” says co-founder and Chief Technology Officer, Brian Patrick. “This leads to an introverted management style that is not sustainable under high stress.  We will incorporate Crucible training modules in online and onsite proctored sessions to build up our clients’ confidence and skill under the most chaotic and volatile situations.” Patrick’s recent article in Forbes references these benefits as “Six Superpowers Of Successful Startups”.

Early testing of Crucible was conducted with college startups from Columbia University and several candidates competing in the IBM Watson AI XPRIZE.  Crucible’s AI adaptive learning and simulation modules were tested under secrecy to protect the identity of the cohort and followed up with several focus groups. The results of the scenario-based training were dramatic improvements in management collaboration, problem solving, tactical adaptability, work agility, and speed of task completion.  Stronger competencies in these areas correlate to improved company metrics such as annual recurring revenue, total contract value, gross margins, and month-on-month growth.

Inspired by the grueling 54-hour period during US Marine Corps Boot camp training, Crucible scenarios are customized to the key competency areas that create stronger leaders.  “We’re leveraging tried-and-true training regimens from the military,” says Chief Operating Officer and former Marine, Todd Patrick. “With Crucible, we’re using AI to match competency areas with suggested skill improvement exercises and rigorous training scenarios to test those improved skills. It’s like taking an MBA prep course taught by a drill instructor.”
