Vadim Verkhoglyad joins SEDA Expert’s Residential Mortgages and Structured Credit Expert Witness Practice

Vadim Verkhoglyad is a structured credit expert with a comprehensive background spanning residential mortgages and asset-backed lending including auto, consumer unsecured, and triple-net lease sectors. Vadim has extensive knowledge from the ratings, trading, investing, data management and securities creation angles of credit. In his roles he has perspective on every step of the credit markets, from loan origination and underwriting practices, to transforming loans into securities, investment selection and monitoring, as well as understanding performance behavior.

Mr. Verkhoglyad is Head of Research at dv01 and in that role has published research highlighting performance and origination trends across multiple credit markets, along with macro-economic reports, geographic analysis and other ad-hoc projects. His 150+ publications are consumed by both credit and equity investors. He also hosts the “In The Tranches of Structured Finance” Podcast where he shares his insights and he has appeared in multiple external podcasts. His research has been published in the Journal of Structured Finance, Structured Finance Association and AltCredit, and he’s been quoted across media outlets including Bloomberg, Forbes, Financial Times and American Banker.

Previously, he was a Structured Credit Portfolio Manager at Tricadia Capital where he worked for 12 years covering RMBS and ABS. In this role, he devised investment strategies, identified new trade ideas and executed trades across the capital structure, including litigation bonds, CDS and cash structured credit trades, and paired basis trades.

In his analysis of the US housing market he developed zip-code rankings identifying good areas in poor housing markets and created analytics and models used in trading strategies, including default, prepays, regions, and a loan level severity model with predictive accuracy of one standard deviation on 70% of private label loans.

In his first roles in finance Vadim was an analyst at Bear Stearns, before his initial role at Tricadia where he analyzed monoline insurers, homebuilders, consumer and marketplace lending, and international real estate markets.
