Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital is Back at the DCR Hatch Shell

Boston Children’s Hospital announced free registration is open for the 2022 Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital, happening on Sunday, June 12, 2022. Now in its 20th year, walkers from all over the world will join together in support of the #1 pediatric hospital in the country, Boston Children’s Hospital. This year’s event will offer participants the ability to gather and walk along the Charles River Esplanade in Boston or join virtually from anywhere in the world. Organizers for this year’s event are hoping to register 5,000 participants and raise $1.7 million.

“We are so excited to be celebrating our 20th year back at the DCR Hatch Shell,” said Alyssa Caruso, Manager, Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital at Boston Children’s Trust. “This event has raised over $23 million since its inception, and the impact those funds have had on research, patient care and family support are just incredible. We are thrilled to be able to celebrate this milestone and 20 years of progress with everyone whether in person or online.”

To register for the event, go to www.bostonchildrens.org/walk. Participants wishing to join in person will meet at the DCR Hatch Shell in Boston at 9 a.m. EDT and enjoy a two- or six-mile walk along the Charles River, as well as family activities, entertainment, a picnic and more. All those joining virtually are invited to walk on their own or as part of a team. Virtual Team captains registered by April 30 will receive a virtual Walk kit with a finish line banner, pom-poms and more to celebrate. Walkers joining virtually can celebrate the day by joining online and sharing their walk activities with all participants.

Leading up to the walk all teams will have access to a fundraising center with helpful tools, tips and a variety of ideas to promote participation, whether it’s hosting a virtual fundraiser with friends and family or encouraging followers on social media to donate or join a team. Participants who raise over $150 by April 29 will receive a Walk t-shirt ahead of the walk on June 12.

“After 20 years of participating in this event on behalf of my son Will and the care he received at Boston Children’s Hospital, there have been many wonderful memories,” said Ginny McCarthy, a 20-year participant of the Eversource Walk for Boston Children’s Hospital. “As I look ahead to the event this June, I am most excited to gathering once again with friends and family and walk outside together along the Charles. While our team has changed slightly over the years, the cause and its mission have stayed the same – to help support the hospital in its effort to cure sick kids. And we will continue to support them every step of the way.”

All donations raised through this event will go toward the hospital’s Every Child Fund, supporting groundbreaking research, lifesaving care and services not covered by insurance for patient families.
