Huobi Incubator Announces Strategic Sponsorship with Moonbeam, Introduces the Moonriver Grant Hackathon

Huobi Incubator, the project incubation arm of Huobi Global, today announced its strategic sponsorship of the Moonriver Grant Hackathon in conjunction with Moonbeam, a fully-Ethereum compatible smart contract platform on Polkadot. The sponsorship will see Huobi Incubator funding the Moonriver Grant Hackathon to help grow startup projects in the NFT, gaming, and other emerging blockchain fields. This hackathon is a great opportunity for Web3 developers to try the Moonriver smart contract platform on Kusama, as well as its integrations.

Committed to nurturing startup projects and promoting industry development, Huobi Incubator is heavily invested in the performance of public chains as they form the cornerstones for progress in the blockchain industry. Moonriver combines the best of Ethereum’s easy-to-use integrations with the interoperability of Kusama. Moonriver is Moonbeam’s sister deployment to the Kusama Network, where the latest tech updates are tested under real economic conditions before deploying to Moonbeam. Moonriver's interoperable capabilities currently allow cross-chain asset transfer between parachains using XC-20. In the future, cross-chain communication between parachains will also be used to freely enable data flow between chains, leading to innovative new interoperable services.

The Moonriver Grant Hackathon invites developers to build powerful and useful dApps on the Moonriver ecosystem. Eight judges, such as Jonan Scheffler, Director of Developer Relations at Parity, and Erik Ashdown, Head of Ecosystem Growth at Covalent, will evaluate participating projects before deciding on the winners. Winning projects will be awarded a share of the US$150,000 prize pool. Five projects, judged to be the best overall, will each receive a special bounty sponsored by Huobi Incubator. In addition, Huobi Incubator and Moonbeam will provide professional guidance and industry suggestions to support emerging projects and contribute to the development of the blockchain ecosystem.

With a focus on early-stage blockchain startups, Huobi Incubator has cooperated with Avalanche, DFINITY, Octopus Network, FBG Capital, and other institutions to encourage the development of emerging projects in the Web3 field. Through the joint efforts of all stakeholders, a series of successful Web3-themed hackathons were held, and nearly 100 outstanding startup projects have been launched.
