ATLANTA (August 23, 2021) – Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO) is proud to announce the graduation of its third class of resident dentists, who have successfully completed the Program in Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopedics. The graduates were honored during an intimate, outdoor ceremony at the Atlanta Athletic Club, where masks were required, and guests were socially distanced. The sixteen graduates completed the thirty-six-month program that consists of intensive didactic, clinical, and research components that are taught in state-of-the-art facilities with technologically advanced equipment and materials.

Randy Kluender, President & Chairman of the Georgia School of Orthodontics (GSO) Board of Trustees addresses the 2021 graduates of GSO’s preeminent orthodontics residency program which is the largest in the nation. GSO provides residents of the greater Atlanta area with two advanced patient clinics, one in Sandy Springs and one in Duluth.

The School’s faculty, staff, and Board of Trustees are immensely proud of their accomplishments. “Our graduating residents have excelled in their orthodontic education, amid an ongoing crisis. They have been extremely resourceful in their training, and have adapted to a rapidly evolving clinical environment,” said Dr. Ricky Harrell, Program Director. “We look forward to following their successful orthodontic careers.”

GSO is also celebrating the start of its largest class of resident dentists, who began their orthodontic training this week. In August of 2020, Georgia School of Orthodontics received approval to double its enrollment to enable the school to train more resident dentists in the specialty of orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at its two Atlanta campuses. With the Commission on Dental Accreditation approval, the School is authorized to train a total of one hundred and eight (108) residents at any given time in its three-year program.

The new Class of 2024 represents the largest class size the School has had to date. It is made up of a diverse group of resident dentists who are dedicated to excelling in the field of orthodontics. “The School is ready and excited for the new class of residents to begin their orthodontic training. These forty-two residents represent the future of orthodontics, and will be trained using the highest educational standards,” said Dr. Randy Kluender, President & Chairman of the GSO Board of Trustees. “We hope to instill in them not only clinical excellence, but also a passion for giving back to the local communities through our free orthodontic care programs.”
