PALO ALTO, Calif., May 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — OpenCV.org, the maintainer of the most popular computer vision library (OpenCV) in the world, is raising funds with a Kickstarter campaign to launch a series of three AI courses this summer.

AI Courses by OpenCV.org

The campaign has raised over $300,000 in the first 25 hours. With more than 935 backers so far, it has broken into the top 5 most funded live campaigns in the technology section and is on track to become one of the most funded technical courses in the history of Kickstarter.

The course series consists of

Computer Vision I: Introduction
Computer Vision II: Applications
Deep Learning with PyTorch

With these courses, OpenCV.org will join the ranks of Coursera, Udacity, and DeepLearning.ai for bringing world-class AI online education to people around the world.

“We are not in competition with Coursera, Udacity, or DeepLearning.ai. These organizations, along with OpenCV.org, are on a mission to train the global workforce in Artificial Intelligence and it will take an extraordinary effort from all of us to accomplish this monumental task. Our courses are geared toward absolute beginners who have adequate programming skills but have no experience in AI,” said Dr. Satya Mallick, Interim CEO, OpenCV.org.

Real-world problem solving using AI is still a black art with practical knowledge locked within small groups of AI practitioners. These courses by OpenCV.org will teach the nuts and bolts of AI with emphasis on solving real-world problems.

“We started with a vision to create the best open source library to help students, researchers, programmers, entrepreneurs, and AI professionals. But that is not enough. AI is transforming many industries like autonomous driving, security, manufacturing, healthcare, and agriculture at an incredible pace. As practitioners of this craft, we have a responsibility to share our knowledge in a language regular developers around the world can understand. This is why we are bringing these courses to life,” said Dr. Gary Bradski, Founder OpenCV.org and Director of Camera Vision Team, Stanley (winner of DARPA Autonomous Driving Grand Challenge, 2005).

AI Courses by OpenCV.org are being created in collaboration with Big Vision LLC — a California AI consulting company known for its popular educational blog LearnOpenCV.com.
