In this recently created role, Kristin leads all user experience and visual design efforts, and incorporates design-thinking into the development of Better’s prescription digital therapeutics.

Kristin joins the Better team from Carbon Five, a digital product development consultancy, where she was most recently Principal UX Designer. During her tenure at Carbon Five, Kristin led more than 30 client engagements, including healthcare clients Stanford Health, Guardant Health, and Grand Rounds.

Prescription digital therapeutics use regulated software to treat disease. High patient engagement with the software that is sustained over time plays an important role in producing meaningful clinical outcomes through behavior change, and is analogous to the role of adherence in prescription drugs. In a recent clinical trial in diabetes, individuals who engaged more often achieved 40% better outcomes (the lowering of blood glucose or HbA1c) than those that engaged less often.
