TAMPA, Fla., Oct. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — The Federal Identity Forum & Exposition (FedID 18) was held during September 25th to 27th, 2018 at Tampa Convention Center. The Palo Alto-based face recognition company, Camvi Technologies Inc., was invited to speak at the Law Enforcement & Biometrics session on September 27th. Other speakers included U.S. Federal executives from Department of Defense (DoD) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
During the session, Matt McCrann, Director of Sales and Business Development for Camvi, delivered a presentation on “Biometrics on the Edge: AI-Powered Solutions for Next Generation Biometric Systems”. The speech addressed the key challenges resulting from the growing needs for real-time intelligence and analytics, and discussed how Artificial Intelligence and edge computing can be leveraged to accomplish more complicated biometric tasks.
“Next generation biometric systems need to be developed with three core competencies: Scalable, Adaptable and Interoperable,” said Matt McCrann, “Using Artificial Intelligence as an enabler, these next generation systems will demonstrate a level of autonomy and a form of adaptiveness, which will allow users to overcome the challenges that real world scenarios present, such as poor, sub-standard biometric collection and attain their most extreme objectives, such as high performance stand-off, long-range facial recognition.”
The presentation was well received by the attending federal officials and industry experts. After the presentations and the panel discussion from all the speakers, Matt led one of the workshops and drove further discussion around “AI and Deep Learning in Biometrics”. The presentations and workshop discussions provided insights into the challenges and potential solutions related to law enforcement agencies and the use of biometrics.
The Federal Identity Forum & Exposition is the U.S. federal government’s primary outreach and collaboration-building event with the worldwide identity community.
Camvi was also exhibiting during the event with demos of the latest face recognition products including its patent-pending CamviEdge solution and the mobile application CamviClient.
Leveraging its highly efficient deep learning-based algorithm, Camvi’s face recognition server enables searching in a Camvi database containing billions of faces to be performed within a second, while maintaining a high accuracy. In addition to high speed and scalability, CamviEdge and CamviClient enable face identification and authentication to happen in real time with or without network connections. These advanced technologies unlock a series of highly demanded scenarios for public safety, border security, field operations, access control and more.
As biometric technology continues to advance, Camvi, with its strength of scalability, adaptability, interoperability and mobility, stands ready to help its customers and partners solve their most difficult biometric challenges.
