Deloitte to Help Fuel Innovation in Government Through New Collaboration With Dcode
Press Releases
Sep 17, 2018
WASHINGTON, Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — Deloitte announced a collaboration with Dcode today to help accelerate the number and capabilities of startups delivering emerging technology and solutions to customers in the public sector. Deloitte’s assistance will enable Dcode to continue growing the emerging technology ecosystem with a special emphasis on information security and a new space cohort.
“At Deloitte, we believe that innovation is born out of collaboration,” said Nishita Henry, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP and chief innovation officer. “Over the years, Dcode and the companies it has supported have successfully brought innovative products into government.”
“Through this collaboration, we will help Dcode with its mission to strengthen the emerging technology ecosystem and bring leading ideas to market and help our public sector clients,” said Michael Isman, managing director, Deloitte Consulting LLP.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Deloitte,” says Meagan Metzger, founder and chief executive officer of Dcode. “Our emerging technologies will benefit from Deloitte’s experience and understanding of government, and Deloitte will get a front row seat to innovation in the market. We’re excited to continue growing our community with such a strong organization.”
Since its inception, Dcode has helped over 50 innovative companies accelerate their time to market and has worked with over 80 federal agencies and programs. Dcode works with companies focused on artificial intelligence, information security, blockchain, and many other emerging technology areas. For over a year, Deloitte has worked with Dcode on several initiatives and will continue to collaborate with Dcode and help grow the technology ecosystem in the government market.
Two focus areas of the collaboration with Dcode are:
1) Space cohort: The eight-week cohort will bring together six to 10 space-focused technology companies. This program will connect the product companies with space experts in the private and public sectors and equip these high-potential businesses with the knowledge necessary to navigate the government landscape. Deloitte is focused on helping the U.S. advance the space industry as a priority domain, promote space commerce, and maintain the lead in space exploration.
“Being the most innovative country in space is critical to our national and economic security,” said Bill Beyer, principal, Deloitte Consulting LLP, and government and public services practice space leader. “Helping Dcode on its space cohort, we hope to bring new ideas and solutions that will enable the U.S. to continue to be the leader in space.”
2) Information security cohort: This group of seven companies is helping to solve problems around encryption; software and infrastructure security and compliance; threat monitoring and detection; and log management and analytics. They’re participating in the Dcode accelerator program as they kick-start their growth in the federal market.
“Cybersecurity-related incidents and evolving regulations continue to challenge approaches for addressing this ever-changing landscape,” said Deborah Golden, principal, Deloitte & Touche LLP, and government and public services cyber risk leader. “Enabling innovative technology and cutting-edge tools in a rapid-deployment program is a critical component of an effective cyber risk strategy and can help detect and thwart attacks in this fast-paced environment. Through this collaboration with Dcode, we can hopefully identify more potential solutions to help government agencies strengthen their cyber posture.”

About Dcode
Dcode was founded on the idea that technology products can improve the way our country runs. Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of technology in government. The Dcode model was developed by combining aspects of the most effective private sector accelerators and tailoring them specifically to bring emerging technology to government. For each program, we research, recruit, and select from over 1,000 technologies to pick the top seven to ten companies. The chosen companies are then entered into the our accelerator program, which includes weekly virtual programming, three weeks of on-site immersion, and extensive one-on-one support.
