Age of Dragons, the First Vast Open World Blockchain Game with an Upcoming Token Pre-Sale

Press Releases

Mar 05, 2018

BEIJING, March 5, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — GameGene Inc., a Cayman Islands registered company working on a new generation gaming experience, has recently published its white-paper and announced a token pre-sale launch date of March 31 for its NGT token. The company is building a vast open world game with a blockchain distributed server that will impact the gaming industry when it launches in May 2018.

Gamegene Inc. is a blockchain company working on a vast open world game.

Age of Dragons (AoD) is an upcoming game that blends strategy, adventure and MMO aspects where players will be able to roam virtual worlds and will have the Neo Genesis Token (an ERC 20-based crypto-currency) to buy dragons, virtual private land, weapons, pay for services, build nations and create their own game scenarios.

Players will be able to trade these assets thanks to blockchain technology, which is helping revolutionize the business model and the user’s gaming experience. In the past, developers would sell these assets and players could just use them, but that is now about to completely change.

Players will be able to build things, trade assets, and provide services for each other – and in this game, storylines will be created without game designers, but by players part of an evolving society that will use the NGT token, thereby increasing the token’s value as the player base grows. The platform will handle 500,000 simultaneous online users and 5 million daily users. The game will be released on PC first then on Mobile but not on platforms like the PS4, due to their inability to support crypto-currencies.

  • GameGene will charge a 3% trading fee when a sale of an asset or service is made in-game by a user (such as selling a dragon to another player).
  • The main token sale worth 25% of all available NGT tokens (or 25,000 ETH) and is planned to take place during April 2018 on exchanges such as Binance and other exchanges in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Is the Age of Crypto & Blockchain Gaming Really Here?

Today’s gamers need a truly unique experience, and because Age of Dragons will not just be explored by players, but also developed by players – allowing players to trade assets they have created with crypto currency is a new means for players to benefit from their in-game experience and their artefact creation or collection.

Using the ERC 20 standard will allow the game to provide secure transactions between users through smart contracts that replace traditional intermediary rules. They will digitally facilitate, verify and enforce transactions between two parties while making them trackable and irreversible, thereby ensuring that buyers and sellers in the game get what they expect.

GameGene CEO and Lead game designer, Jinming Pu, is an expert in engine development, with over 15 years of research and development experience. Jinming, who goes by the English name Paul, has been running Seastar Games for the past 6 years and was employed at Lenovo and Gameloft as a producer and director. He believes they have the talent and experience in making original and cool games and states, “That’s why our company is game GameGene. It is in our DNA to make something interesting and exciting.”

The game will be built on the experience of his team that has worked on games like Planet Zero, Rainbow Six 3 and 4, Splinter Cell: Double AgentOrder & Chaos Online (the first WOW like game on mobile), Fish Party (with more than 30M users and running for 5+ years.) and League of Tanks (published by Nexon in Korea and iDreamsky in China).

The project is already in motion, having received an early round funding in January, which Paul sees as timely as he believes, “There is an unstoppable trend underway and we are just at the beginning of the blockchain gaming movement in China and globally. Blockchain users are growing very fast, and the market needs games that use the crypto-currency and lets players possess their in-game assets. That is the need we are about to fulfill.”

Paul wants to contribute to this trend in the best possible way, well beyond the CryptoKitties clone-mania and adds that, “There’s not a lot of deep games or huge worlds being developed,” like the one they are building and that “the cornerstone to create a really open and free game world is by allowing players to possess, trade and create in-game assets.”

The game will evolve in four stages with associated abilities – and these stages will become available incrementally based on the development timeline below but available to all users once they are released.

Stage 1: Breeding, raising, collecting and fighting with dragons. A beta version will be available for testing and debugging in April 2018 followed by an official release in May 2018.

Stage 2: Owning virtual private land, producing weapons, trading items and services, community-building.

This stage and its related abilities will be released in August 2018 followed by a developer kit that will be released in December 2018.

GameGene confirms that the Quest game mode will be released on the platform in August 2018 with a quest editing tool allowing players to trade services based on the smart contracts. Everything, in terms of outcomes will be possible as players will be able modify key elements in quests.

Stage 3: Nation Building. The open world will be expanded to new territories that will be open to everyone and eventually develop into countries, with flags and political systems. Inevitably, waging war will be possible on these new nations at this stage in June 2019.

Stage 4: Creative Story Development. These new worlds will require new plots, story lines, resources and infinite gaming opportunities. Age of Dragons will have many new different story lines scripted by developers (both in-house and external) and Artificial Intelligence bots by December 2019.

Ultimately, the team is envisioning a game that is free to access and open (where Minecraft and World of Warcraft meets the Sims) where players can create and invest in in-game assets and resell these crypto-based assets at any time. All these items will be tradable and will be on the game’s blockchain distributed server. To keep it simple, players will have their tradable resources stored in a private Ethereum wallet which will sync to their player profile and the game’s central server will connect to that wallet via the profile when needed.
