LAS VEGAS, Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — LG Electronics announced today that its 2018 LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs, which were unveiled this week at CES® 2018, will feature Control4® Simple Device Discovery Protocol (SDDP) technology. The integration enables LG to offer automation-ready televisions for consumers worldwide.
Control4 Corporation is a leading provider of automation and control solutions for the connected home. Products like flat-panel TVs, projectors, audio/video receivers, security cameras, alarm panels, and other network-aware products can be easily integrated into consumers’ smart and connected homes via Control4 technology. With SDDP, the Control4 home automation system automatically finds, identifies, authenticates, adds and connects the SDDP-enabled devices nearly instantaneously during initial installation and set-up – dramatically reducing the complexity and configuration time for Control4 installers, and reducing potential incompatibility with other devices. “The addition of Control4 SDDP technology to our 2018 LG OLED and SUPER UHD TVs will make integration with a Control4 system easy and seamless for installers for a great connected home experience,” said Tim Alessi, head of product marketing at LG Electronics USA.
“The integration of exciting new products like the 2018 LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs into Control4 projects delivers an exceptional experience for both the dealer and the consumer. Control4 is dedicated to providing our dealers with the flexibility to include the very best consumer electronics, seamlessly, into a Control4 smart home,” said Jeff Dungan, Sr. Vice President of Business Development for Control4. “Our partnership with LG further exemplifies our commitment.”
This week at CES, LG raised the home entertainment experience to another level with the introduction of LG ThinQ® artificial intelligence (AI) and an advanced image processor in its newest LG smart TV lineup, including OLED and SUPER UHD TVs. LG ThinQ allows the implementation of hundreds of voice requests utilizing the company’s own webOS smart TV platform as well as third-party AI services.
Control4 SDDP technology makes it extremely easy for 2018 LG OLED and LG SUPER UHD TVs to seamlessly integrate into a Control4 automation installation. LG’s 2018 OLED (including the LG SIGNATURE OLED W8 “Picture on Wall” and E8 “Picture on Glass” series) and SUPER UHD TVs support Advanced HDR by Technicolor, building on a legacy of supporting all major HDR formats – from the premium Dolby VisionTM to HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) – for access to the largest spectrum of high-quality HDR content available.
Visitors to CES can experience LG’s full 2018 TV lineup at booth #11100 in the Central Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center and online at http://CES2018.lgusnewsroom.com.
