Xevo Delivers Major Merchant Brands to General Motors In-Car Commerce Platform

Press Releases

BELLEVUE, Wash., Dec. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Xevo Inc. today announced the launch of eight major brands and merchants in General Motors’ recently launched Marketplace, the new merchant-to-driver interaction platform, and a powerful new media channel for in-vehicle and mobile commerce. Xevo and General Motors have partnered to deliver merchant commerce transactions and interactions via Marketplace, which enables eligible U.S. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac customers to engage and interact with their favorite merchant brands and services via their in-vehicle touch screen and GM’s suite of myBrand mobile apps. As announced earlier today by General Motors, the collection of partner applications that Xevo brings to the platform includes popular food, fuel, hotel, dining, and parking brands Starbucks, Shell, Exxon/Mobil, Parkopedia, Applebee’s, Priceline.com, IHOP, and delivery.com, with more merchant partners expected to be added in the coming weeks.

In addition to improving the in-vehicle experience, Marketplace’s seamless in-vehicle connectivity allows merchant partners to extend their customer relationships into millions of vehicles, where drivers and passengers spend hundreds of hours each year. Marketplace also leverages real-time interaction data such as location, time of day, etc., as well as Xevo’s strong merchant partnerships and years of automotive software expertise in vehicle applications, cloud and mobile software, machine learning, and data analysis to deliver a highly-personalized experience that makes time spent in the car more productive and enjoyable. Xevo’s partnership with IBM augments Xevo’s solution by enabling in-vehicle experiences powered by IBM Watson for Marketplace and other automotive OEMs.

Marketplace enables embedded ordering and transactions directly from the in-vehicle touch screen. The platform helps merchants drive adoption of loyalty programs, and promote featured products, through simple on-screen notifications informing drivers of relevant offers. Customers are able to order their favorite breakfast from the car so it’s waiting for them when they arrive, find the nearest gas station and pay for fuel, or make a dinner reservation, all from the comfort of their vehicle. Marketplace unlocks a new opportunity for merchants to reach customers directly with convenient, highly contextual offers in an uncluttered landscape, delivered more safely through the touch-screens of their eligible U.S. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles.

“Connected cars are the future of the automotive industry, and a personalized journey is the future of the automotive user experience. Marketplace enables smarter, safer, more productive journeys, so that GM can deliver the tailored services their customers really want,” said Dan Gittleman, CEO of Xevo. “Marketplace simplifies people’s daily lives by helping them make the most of their time. By combining Xevo’s artificial intelligence, car, cloud, and mobile expertise with General Motors, we have delivered a powerful solution that improves the driving experience, while also helping merchant brands strengthen customer loyalty and increase satisfaction.”

“We are happy to partner with Xevo as we build Marketplace into the most intuitive and comprehensive in-vehicle commerce platform. Aligning with best in category partners within fuel, dining, parking, and hotels is critical as we look to offer our customers the opportunity to connect and interact with their favorite brands from the car, in a safer and more convenient way,” said Brian Hoglund, Director, Commercial Experience GCCX.  “Xevo is helping us deliver on this customer promise.”

Marketplace is now open for new merchant partners. Those interested in joining this exciting new platform can visit Xevo.com/marketplace. For more information on Xevo Inc., visit Xevo.com.
