SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — MapD Technologies, the leader in GPU-accelerated data analytics, today announced that Monica McEwen has joined the company as Vice President of Federal. Monica will lead efforts to expand MapD’s leadership position as an open-source platform for operational analytics and interactive discovery across the federal market. Her appointment follows investment last year by In-Q-Tel (IQT), the non-profit strategic investor that identifies innovative technology for the U.S. Intelligence Community.

The MapD analytics platform leverages the massively parallel processing capabilities of Graphics Processing Units (GPUs) to query and visualize billions of records in milliseconds. Its platform is designed to explore big data across federal agencies where traditional analytics solutions fail to deliver high performance at scale. Use cases include analysis of intelligence data, health records and population data.

Monica brings to MapD 20 years of expertise within the federal market, with focus areas including software, business analytics and big data. As the Vice President of Federal at Qlik Technologies, Monica built the federal vertical from its origin. During her six years with Qlik, she increased the Federal customer base from three to more than 60, with programs across the Civilian, Defense and Intelligence Agencies. Prior to Qlik, Monica held sales and leadership positions at Cognos, IBM and Google. She is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine.

“I am thrilled to join MapD at a time when big data can have such a transformative effect on our federal government, especially the ability to quickly explore and interact with very large data sets. That’s where MapD is revolutionary,” said Monica McEwen, VP of Federal. “MapD delivers rapid and measurable impact for federal customers, whether it’s identifying cybersecurity threats or helping prepare our military and first-responders to be mission ready.”

“We’re very excited to have Monica join our team at this important time of expansion into the federal market. Her track record of success means MapD will be well-positioned to become a leading player in analytics for the federal sector,” said Ché Wijesinghe, SVP of Global Field Operations at MapD.
