CAMPBELL, Calif., Sept. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Dr. Radoslav “Rado” Danilak, CEO of Silicon Valley startup Tachyum Inc., is among the invited speakers at the Storage Visions Conference, presenting at Session D1: Hardware Visions for Ubiquitous Storage and Memory October 16 at 2 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas, Calif.

Danilak’s presentation will address the single most critical challenge facing the data center industry today – energy consumption.  With data centers currently consuming 70 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually – representing more than 2 percent of total U.S. electrical output – and data center power utilization efficiency (PUE) projected to remain relatively flat over the next 5 years, there must be a better way to overcome the challenge of supplying power to the growing data center marketplace.  Danilak will describe how Tachyum is tackling this energy challenge with a product that will disrupt data center hardware markets and usher in the era of low-cost, ultra-low power, all-flash data center architectures.

“Data center capacity and corresponding electricity consumption is expected to double in 5 years and then double again in the subsequent 5 years,” said Danilak.  “How on earth can we possibly build all the necessary power plants required to supply these new data centers with electricity?  The simple answer is that we can’t.  Somehow, we must find another way.  At Storage Visions, I will lay out the case for how exploiting device physics to deliver a product family of ‘Cloud Chips’ can offer unprecedented power savings, along with performance and value to help overcome the energy demands of exponential growth in data center capacity.”

Danilak is well known as an innovator in bringing low-cost flash to consumer and enterprise markets on the strength of his landmark flash memory controller chip developed at SandForce and his game changing ultra-dense, all-flash arrays at Skyera. Now, Danilak and a group of industry veterans are designing a high-performance, ultra-low power Cloud Chip aimed directly at the hyperscale data center market and cloud computing centers with his latest venture, Tachyum.

By tightly integrating networking, storage, artificial intelligence, cloud and big data processing, Tachyum’s Cloud Chip is expected to reduce data center compute and storage hardware CAPEX by 3x, TCO by 4x and hardware power consumption by 10-15x.

The 2017 Storage Visions Conference is the place to meet and hear from the innovators driving data storage technology forward.  The one-day event will look at all aspects of digital storage technology and their applications, helping businesses, IT professionals and data scientists better understand the digital storage solutions that will make them successful in this new world.  Additional information about the conference is available at http://www.storagevisions.com
