LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ — In 2030, the tech industry may find itself in a talent shortage. 4.3 million jobs are projected to go unfilled by this year. In the United States alone, this could lead to $162 billion in lost revenue. How do we address this? By giving the tech workers of tomorrow the tools and motivation they need to succeed today.

Ling Ling Chang, California Senator for the 29th district, aims to do exactly that with the second-ever California Senate App Challenge Awards Ceremony. The upcoming event strives to foster STEM education in younger generations by exposing K-12 students to activities such as coding and mobile app design. It will also give them the opportunity to learn from inspirational leaders in STEM and showcase their app creations in a special competition.

Since taking office in 2018, Senator Chang has demonstrated a strong commitment to the stewardship of technology. Besides being recognized as a “Tech Champion” by the Computing Technology Industry Association, Chang was also named California’s inaugural Fellow of STEMx Policy, a multi-state endeavor to emphasize STEM more in education. Recently, she authored and introduced bipartisan legislation to combat cybercrime.

Chang has invited Marc Fischer, CEO and Co-Founder of mobile app development company Dogtown Media, to deliver the keynote address at the California Senate App Challenge Awards Ceremony.

“It’s an absolute honor to speak with the next generation about the potential that STEM has to improve lives,” Fischer said. “I thank Senator Chang for inspiring, educating, and fostering a passion for technological innovation in our youth.”

Headquartered in Venice Beach, California, Dogtown Media is a mobile technology studio that leverages disruptive design strategies and dynamic development to deliver industry-leading apps. To date, the company has created over 200 mobile apps in industries including Healthcare app development, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence. The firm recently returned to the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest-Growing Companies in America for the 3rd year in a row.

The California Senate App Challenge Awards Ceremony will be held on February 21, 2020, from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library in Yorba Linda, CA.
